The show's closest companion is Tianmen Mountain itself, whose cable-car base sits beside the theatre. A day here takes in the long cable car, the '99-bend' road to Heaven's Gate — the giant natural arch in the cliff — and the vertigo-inducing glass walkways along the cliff face. It's the natural daytime half of a Tianmen-side day that ends with the Fox Fairy show.
Wulingyuan and the 'Avatar' peaks
Zhangjiajie's most famous scenery is in Wulingyuan, further from the city: the forest of towering sandstone pillars that helped inspire the floating mountains of Avatar. It's a vast scenic area usually given a full day of its own, with the Bailong glass elevator and viewpoints like the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain. Most Zhangjiajie trips build in at least a day here, separate from the Tianmen side and the show.

A typical Zhangjiajie trip runs two to three days: one for Wulingyuan's pillars, one for Tianmen Mountain, perhaps one for the Grand Canyon bridge. The Fox Fairy show slots onto the Tianmen day as its evening finale, needing no extra travel day of its own.
